Reportedly some 10 Israeli attackers broke into a house where there were three Canadian and three Italian activists; they beat them up and stole their personal belongings, including passports and mobile phones.
RAI correspondent Giovan Battista Brunori interviewed the activist, who wishes to remain anonymous.- SOUNDBITE (English) Canadian activist: “The illegal Israeli settlers broke into our home, where we were standing in solidarity with the Palestinian village of Duyuk, who have been repeatedly attacked violently for the last two months, as an illegal settler outpost was set up. Even though it is in area A, they came at 4:30 at night. There were ten of them. They were masked. Two of them had guns. Some of them had clubs. They broke into the home, and they beat us severely. They kicked me in the head several times. They kicked me in the ribs several times. They kicked me in the hip several times. I was trying to shield my comrade from them, and I could hear the screams of my other comrades, and I didnt know what was happening to them. So, I wasnt afraid for myself, but for my comrades and for the Palestinian families that we were there for. Because this, what happened to us, is terrible, but it is absolutely nothing in comparison to what is going on every second of every minute, of every hour of every day to the Palestinian people is so much worse. And our governments are complicit in it. And so, it is our duty to come and stand in solidarity and try to bring attention to what is going on here, the genocide and the illegal apartheid occupation of Israel, funded by my government and my comrades` governments. And we will not be bowed. We will not give in to fear. We are not afraid. This only made us stronger, and we will continue to stand in solidarity with our Palestinian comrades in their same mood.” QUESTION (English) Italian RAI correspondent, Giovan Battista Brunori: “What are you going to do now?” – SOUNDBITE (English) Canadian activist: “I am going to rest a little bit and heal. I will do as many interviews as possible to get the word out, so that maybe some small change can be made for the safety of the people of Duyuk, who have embraced us and welcomed us into their homes with so much joy and love and gratitude, which we do not even feel worthy of, because coming here during a genocide to stand with them is the least we can do. Coming from the West, and after a few days, once my bruises have healed, I will go back out to stand again in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
